Much of the economy’s down.  Who’s making money?  The student uniform industry.

Michael Arking, VP of French Toast’s school uniform division, a top brand of school uniforms, says the industry could be up 5 percent this year.

Mr. MICHAEL ARKING (Vice President, French Toast School Uniform):  The early indicators seem to be that sales are up.  I think a lot of that has to do with--in the value and the quality.  Let’s say $120, parents can buy a whole wardrobe, which is like less than a pair of designer jeans, actually.


CABOT:  The school uniform industry brings in about $1 billion every year.
